Kylie Ora Lobell is a freelance writer and personal essayist in Los Angeles. She writes for the Jewish Journal of LA, Grok Nation, Aish and Tablet. Her husband is comedian Danny Lobell.

Kylie's story " My Jewish husband wanted a Non- Jewish wife, but then I converted." Is an inspirational tale of kylie, an atheist, and her husband Danny, who left Orthodox Judaism, as they togther found their way  back to Yiddishkeit.

Kylie inspired me with her love for Judaism, she  brought her husband Danny back to Judaism and unto the path of Torah, which he left many years ago. Today, together with their children, they live a Torah- observant life. Kylie is open about her life and the struggles she sometimes faces as a observant Jewish women, which isn't always easy. She discusses challenges wearing a sheitel, and tznius -related issues, and other matters, but also that converting to Judaism taught her important life lessons. She never gave up and always find ways to deal with challenges and struggles.

Every neshama sent by HaShem has it own mountain to climb, and I think someone who gave up her entire life to serve HaShem by converting to Judaism, has an especially high mountain to climb.

Shkoyach Kylie Ora Lobell.

Jews by Choice

How do we view Jews by choice?

A Jew is someone who is born to a Jewish mother, or one who converted to Judaism accourding to halacha. Provided that the conversion process was supervised and performed by a valid, authentic rabbinic body, a convert is just as Jewish as any born Jew. Those who would look down upon converts should remember that some of our greatest Torah sages were descended from converts, including  Rabbi Akiva.

The midrash states that a genuine convert is more precious in the eyes of HaShem than one who was born Jewish. Why? Because one born of a Jewish mother had no choice in the matter. If your mother is Jewish, you are Jewish, and a biological and spiritual fact of life.

But the convert did not have to become Jewish. One who makes this a conscious choice to embrace and serve HaShem, is someone worthy of HaShem's special love.

And may we all born and those who have become a Jew will be true to our faith, to the Torah and to HaShem.
