G'Mar Chasima Tova!
Hashivenu
HaShem, bring us closer to you. Help us take that first step and lead us back to where we belong.
Eicha 5:21
This is not a Yomim Noraim song or Yom Kippur song, but Hashivenu touches the soul so deeply because it acknowledges that even when we wander, our deepest desire is always to be close to HaShem. When we do Teshuvah we return to our true essence. We ask HaShem to forgive us, to leave the transgressions behind, and promise to never commit them again. The Torah command us to fast, to afflict our souls, not as a punishment, a path to spiritually cleasing and to purifiy our souls of our sins and transgression.
Yom Kippur is a day to come closer to HaShem.
