We live in a world that is spinning faster by the day. If you pause, turn off the notifications, and step away from the relentless rush of the 24-hour news cycle, you can feel it. There is a weight in the air, a quiet, unmistakable vibration.
Our Sages called it "Ikveta De Moshiach" the footsteps of the Moshiach.
But to hear the footsteps, you have to be listening. And to listen, you have to quiet the distraction.
Thousands of years ago, theTanach mapped out the very days we are walking through today. The prophets spoke of an era where history would speed up. They described global shifts, nation rising against nation, conflicts involving the descendants of Ishmael, and the unsettling Gog and Magog.
For centuries, these prophecies felt distant, but today, they read like the morning headlines.
Everything is speeding up. The political, social, and global structures we once thought were unshakable are fracturing before our eyes. It is an era of intense transition, and honestly? It is completely natural to feel overwhelmed. The birth pangs of chevlei Moshiach were never described as easy. They are designed to wake us up.
But they aren’t meant to break us
When we look at the world through a purely secular perspective, what we see is terrifying. It looks like random, unguided chaos. It feels like a ship lost at sea in a violent storm with no captain at the wheel. That is why you could feel anxiety, panic, and helplessness.
But when we view these exact same events through the Torah, the picture changes entirely.
What looks like chaos is actually alignment. What looks like the world falling apart is actually the old world falling into place to make room for something greater. We are not lost; we are precisely where the prophets said we would be. History is not drifting, it is being deliberately driven toward a destination of ultimate peace, clarity, and Divine revelation.
The Ultimate Rest: An Eternal Shabbos
Listening to the footsteps of Moshiach means knowing that we are standing on the very doorstep of something infinitely better. We are walking toward an eternal Shabbos.
Think about how we experience Shabbat today. We spend six days working, rushing, and dealing with the friction of the world, with time speeding up in the rush on erev Shabbos. But then, the candles are lit. The phones turned off. A deep sense of peace descends, and the chaos vanishes.
Human history has endured thousands of years of heavy, exhausting friction to prepare for this final, ultimate rest. The pain, conflict, and confusion we see in the headlines right now are simply the Friday rush of world history.
We are so close to the light. We are moving towards a world with no more wars, no more blood and tears, no more corruption, and no more oppression. The heartbreak of this world has an expiration date, and it is approaching fast.
Emunah:
How do we survive the speed of these final moments without losing our inner peace? The secret isn't in trying to control global events; it it through Emunah and Bitachon.
Emunah is not a passive, blind belief that everything will magically be comfortable right now. It is the knowledge that HaShem has a plan, that He is the One behind every headline, and that He is holding the reins.
When you have emunah, fear loses its grip. Anxiety happens when we think we are alone in the dark. Emunah reminds us that the dark is just the shadow of His hand moving behind the scenes. It transforms our perspective from "What is happening to us?" to "Where is He taking us!"
Quiet the Noise, Build the Sanctuary
If the footsteps are getting louder, our response shouldn't be to panic, it is to prepare us. Here is how we can act today to transform fear into purpose:
Log off to tune in: Dedicate time each day to step away from your screens. You cannot hear the subtle footsteps of Geulah over the roar of social media algorithms designed to keep you afraid.Double down on Chesed: When the world outside feels cruel and fractured, give more kindness into your immediate surroundings. A smile, a charity donation, or a helping hand gives light in a dark room.Speak to HaShem, Take time for hitbodedus- personal davening. Speak in your own language. Acknowledge the fear, and then hand it over to HaShem, the One who runs the world.
We were chosen to be alive at this exact moment in history for a reason. Do not let the noise distract you of what we are witnessing. Breathe, trust the process, and listen closely. The ultimate Shabbos is just around the corner.
When the World is Broken, look deeper into the lyrics of " The Way of G-d" - Derech HaShem, by Rabbi Mordehay Darwish.
You not only see the chaos, but HaShem's whole design behind it. Have bitachon, have emunah!
