The redemption from Mitzrayim began when HaShem placed His heart and eyes upon the Jewish people.
What was it that aroused HaShem's compassion?
It was when the Jewish people acted with compassion towards each other. In the beginning of golus and slavery began with closing the hearts and eyes of the Jewish people, and the beginning of the redemption would begin when HaShem opens His heart and eyes.
What is the meaning of this?
Every Jew has and ayin tovah- good eye, and a lev tov- good heart. But when our eyes and heart are closed, we cannot see the meaning of unity in the right way. For instance, we don't feel our fellow Jew his or her pain, because we ourselves are in so much pain. This is the beginning of golus. The Midrash explains that the cause of golus was the lack of unity. A sign of geulah is when we reopen our hearts and eyes, when we feel the pain of others, this will arouse HaShem to feel the pain of the entire Jewish nation.
Chazal teach us that only one- fifth of the Jewish people left Mitzrayim, the other fourth- fifth died during the Plague of Darkness.
When we don't feel bad or concerned about our fellow Jew his or her problems, we cannot bring geulah, because the conditions of geulah is to share the pain with others, daven for each other, and do what we can to help one another.
Emunah and bitachon, the connection to HaShem, comes through the vessel of Jewish unity. When we treat our fellow Jew properly, and appreciating each other, it will make us appreciate what HaShem does for us, and creating a dwelling place for Him among us.
It is the lack of unity, love, and compassion what we have for each other, that causes golus. When we increase unity, we can bring geulah. We have been too long in golus, 2000 years of bitter golus! Let us love one another, feel the pain and share happiness.
